When we stopped by the Visitors Center @goldengatecanyoncpw and was told we would love this hike with a historical homestead & a porch swing, we had to check it out 🫶🏼

Ooh the Pickering House 😍

A little history for your Monday morning. Built by John Pickering in 1660 - this house is Salems oldest house but it’s also the oldest home in America! This home has been in the same family for over three & a half centuries 🤓 I think it’s one of if not the prettiest home in Salem!

Across the road is Broad Street Cemetery where Pickering family members are laid to rest.

One of the prettiest places along the coast 🌊

📍Annisquam Harbor Light, Wigwam Point
Built in 1801

[this is in a neighborhood with zero street parking & signs everywhere saying “residents only”] … but lucky for us we met the nicest lady whose family has had property there since the 1950s and she welcomed us with open arms & let us park in her driveway! She even walked us to the beach 🥹

FINALLY made it to Gloucester, Mass and had the pleasure of having a few beers at The Crows Nest ⛴️⚓️🍻

The Crows Nest has been around since 1972 & is a hangout for local fisherman. The bar pays tribute to the lives lost on the Andrea Gail [who frequented there] - & many others. The Andrea Gail capsized during the 1991 Perfect Storm, where six lives were taken by the sea.
The bar has been made iconic since the movie The Perfect Storm was released in 2000. There is a lot of history & sadness from the lives lost over the years here so please when you visit, be sure to show respect.
